A Report Card For Your Life
(STATISTICAL MANAGEMENT ON A PERSONAL LEVEL)
If you had to report to a higher authority every week about your contributions as a member of mankind, what would your score be?
Some people are kind, thoughtful, nurturing, and huge philanthropists out to help all mankind, while other folks are “in it for themselves”, don’t care about others’ feelings, step on people to get ahead, etc. Without too much effort, you can probably guess who would come out ahead in the happiness department.
Here are some sample items that could be on your report card of life:
On the positive side:
- How many people did you help in some way this week?
- Did you mentor someone to aid them in their own growth?
- Did you learn something new that will help you improve your skills?
- Did you make someone else happier?
- Did you make a positive difference at your work?
On the negative side:
- Did you hurt anyone unnecessarily (mentally, spiritually)?
- Were you thoughtless in your dealings with anyone this week?
- Did you pass on gossip or bad news that depressed the other person?
- Did you put someone down this week?
- Were you rude to anyone (no excuses allowed)?
You, I’m sorry to say, are the only one who can score this report card, and the measure of your score is how happy you are with your own quality of life.
Work out for yourself what items you would use to score your own report card and then check it out at the end of each week and work to improve that score week by week.
